The year was 1983. In a world amid a midlife crisis, with no clear musical leaders in
sight, Fingering Gottlieb exploded with a breath of fresh air and pure rock 'n' roll fury. There style is often imitated but
never duplicated. From the paint peeling howls of Chris Sniper to the bong rattling bass of Rex La Flare, to the fiery double
guitar attack of Skeet La Flare and Stud Snooka, to the earthquaking of "G's" drums, and the airy keyboards of "Big" Rick
Insidja, FG was unparalleled on the national music scene. January 1983 the members
of Fingering Gottlieb were scattered across the country. Rex La Flare grew up Holland, Nevadak. Rex took to music, learned
to play bass, and founded the band that year. Rex turned to his guitar wizard brother, Skeet, who was already in a band called
Jesus Laundry, to join him in the band in it's embryonic state. The next piece of the puzzle was found in the sonic vocalist
Chris Sniper, whom the La Fare brother's met sleeping in his Camero in Anchorage, Alaska. Now the band needed a drummer of
tremendous skill. After reading a wanted poster of the mysterious "G," the forming band decided to travel to Parts Unknown
and investigate. What they found busted their ears and "G" joined the group. "G" knew
a kickin' guitarist named Stud Snooka, from Death Valley California, and soon he too joined the fold. The last member to join
was "Big" Rick Insidja. Hailing from Succassuna, New Jersey, a demo tape of Rick playing solo rock keyboards landed in the
hands of the band and they scooped him up like a fish. In March of 1983 the band recorded the 5 song
EP Exploding Fetus. This ignited a firestorm among record labels to sign the talented band. From there the sky was the limit.
Skip to 2003. Today's music is shaped and influenced by FG's style and sound in too many ways to count. Through
thick and thin, FG have never stopped in their relentless quest to rock everyone out of their minds. With multiplatnum record
sales and dozens of hits, the members have reached an iconic state in pop culture across the world. Their unbelievable saga
is chronicled exclusively here, on this official band website.
